Flowers rich purple fading to bluer shade 12cm dia., tepals x 6-8, anthers yellow, conspicuous. (xC) Needs full sun. Late summer to mid autumn. Best grown as a rambler on low shrubs or in grass. We find this variety gets stem wilt if not pruned multiple times to keep it low!

Pale lavender blue semi-double and single open flowers. Strong growing. Suitable as cut flowers (xB) Early summer-late summer. Fine old variety.

Flowers 13-15cm, beautifully formed. Tepals x7 pale mauve, fading to silvery mauve and finally palest grey. Prominent dark anthers.(xB) Spring-autumn. Attractive seed heads! Container! Violet scented.

Flowers Wedgewood blue 12-15cm. tepals x6-8 rounded overlapping, anthers cream. Early summer to early autumn. (xB) Container! Some similarity to 'Lasurstern' (violet-blue).

Double deep blue hanging bell-shaped flowers, 4-5cm dia. Spring flowering (second flush here in March). ("Blue Lagoon") (xA) macropetala needs cool winter dormancy... doesn't like the warmer parts of the country.

Flowers 5cm bell-shaped cream-pink outside and red inside. Wintergreen foliage, winter-flowering and spontaneous in summer. (xA)

Rich, deep blue fading to campanula blue 15-18cm, the creamy anthers makes a nice contrast. Fairly vigorous to 3m. (xB and C) My old favourite. Flowers 13cm on second flush.

Short supply
Huge flowers up to 24cm across, rosy lavender becoming lavender-blue. Most effectful when seen from above. Early summer-late summer. (xB) Cut flower! Good flowers, but not freely produced. This variety is rarely seen, the common one seen with this name is in fact 'Sieboldia'.

Flowers raspberry-pink almost to margins, though sometimes this colour is confined to a central bar 15cm. Anthers crimson. Spring-autumn. (xB) Suitable cut flower. Attractive seed heads. This variety has been sold as "Nelly Moser" for years, even pictured in one of "Palmers Manual" as "N.M.".

Flowers 5cm across on 15cm pedicels. Tepals x4-6 recurved at margins. Broad outer band of pale mauve, white central bar. Anthers greenish. (xC) viticella type, hard prune. (xC)
