Small hanging, closed bell-shaped flowers in axill. panicles, straw-yellow. Strongly cowslip-scented. Vigorous to 6m. (xC) Summer. Self seeding so keep under control. We recommend autumn pruning to avoid seed ripening! This may be Cl. veitchiana we grow in NZ as Cl. rehderiana. Late Pruning!

Flowers dark violet with contrasting greenish-yellow anthers. Tepals x4-6. The flowers are almost black on first opening. (xC) Summer and autumn flowering. Certificate of Merit, British Clematis Society, 1998. 'Romantika' needs a lighter coloured partner to show up at its best. Suggestions are 'Victoria', 'Perle d'Azur', 'Prince Charles', or any lighter coloured matching partner.

Vigour moderate, considering its vit. blood. Flowers 8cm, dark rich reddish-purple, of a velvety texture. (xC) Some years ago it was pictured in NZ Gardener, and we got endless req. for it and none available in NZ at the time. Now we have a few, so dig in.
